Bill to Prevent Breed-Discriminatory Ordinances Is on Its Way to the Governor |
|
AB 110 would prevent local governments from adopting or enforcing an ordinance or regulation that deems a dog dangerous or vicious based solely on the breed of the dog.
Currently, any local government in our state can ban or restrict any breed of dog, but discriminating against certain dogs doesn’t improve public safety. Numerous states have outlawed breed discrimination because it fails to enhance public safety and is extremely expensive to enforce. Breed-neutral laws that target all dangerous dogs are much more effective. AB 110 would authorize municipalities to adopt such ordinances and would prohibit breed discrimination.
Breed discrimination also interferes with property rights. This is America. Every American who follows the safety rules as a responsible dog owner should be allowed to own whatever breed of dog he or she chooses.
AB 110 is on the governor’s desk right now. With your help, we will successfully stop breed discrimination in Nevada and help save pets. Please take action and ask the governor to sign this humane legislation today.
