Ohana
Ohana is a 13 year old golden mix who came to GRRSN from The Animal Foundation after being picked up as a stray. Although she was microchipped, no one ever came for her. Because of her age and medical condition, she was placed on the shelter’s commitment list, and without rescue, her time was running out. We simply could not let this sweet senior girl lose her life because she was no longer wanted.
Ohana arrived in rough shape… matted, unkempt and clearly uncomfortable. She has several medical challenges, including multiple mammary tumors, dental disease, weak hind limbs and a deformity or old injury affecting her right hind leg that appears to have never healed properly. Despite everything she has endured, Ohana has remained incredibly kind, gentle and trusting.
Given her age and overall condition, our focus for Ohana is comfort, love and quality of life rather than invasive medical procedures. She is now resting comfortably in her forever foster home where she is finally receiving the care, safety and compassion she has always deserved.
Her name, Ohana, means “family,” and that’s exactly what she has now, a family who will make sure she is never alone, neglected or forgotten again.
