Marley – Medical Hold

Marley is a beautiful 2 year old Golden Retriever who recently came into GRRSN’s care after suffering from a devastating leg injury that appears to have gone untreated for many months. Despite living with significant pain for far too long, Marley has remained incredibly sweet, gentle and loving with everyone she meets.

When Marley arrived, our veterinary team discovered severe muscle atrophy, multiple open wounds and a serious infection affecting not only the skin but likely the bone as well. She had completely stopped using the leg and had even begun chewing at it, seemingly trying to relieve her discomfort.

After extensive diagnostics, including x-rays, bloodwork, cultures and specialist consultations, it was determined that amputation will give Marley the best chance at a happy, pain free life once her infection is fully under control. While this was not an easy decision, we know this surgery will finally bring her the comfort and freedom she deserves.

At this time, Marley is on medical hold and is not yet available for adoption. She is currently hospitalized receiving IV medications, antibiotics, wound care and plenty of love as she begins her healing journey.

Even through everything she has endured, Marley’s gentle spirit continues to shine. We are so hopeful for her future and cannot wait to see her thriving again – happy, comfortable and finally free from pain.

Please keep sweet Marley in your thoughts as she recovers. 💕
