Chloe
Update on Chloe – Adopted from GRRSN in August 2016:
Hi GRRSN! It’s been a full year since Chloe came to live with us, and a lot has changed for her in that year. In March we had her teeth cleaned and decided to have her entropian eyelid correction redone. It had been done once while she was in your care, but she still had many issues with her eyes and the left one wept constantly. So, while she was under anesthesia, we had it redone and also had a biopsy done on her nose. I am enclosing photos of the ‘new Chloe look’ – a huge improvement! No more weeping eyes, no more rubbing on my legs to relieve her discomfort! Big brown eyes! If you compare these to her earlier photos, you will see the difference!
The biopsy showed Lupus, which we suspected, and it will be a chronic condition. Discoid lupus erythematosus or DLE is treatable, but not curable, so she is on one oral med and two topical ointments. She is sun-sensitive, which is tricky here in southern Nevada, but we manage. Her nose will always have some loss of pigment.
She still loves to ride and will take over the booster seat if I’m not quick!
She’s made herself completely at home with us and we love her! She’s still a bit sensitive around some dogs, perhaps because her nose is tender. Our next challenge with be getting her comfortable with my daughter’s new lab puppy in October. Chloe got used to their previous lab, but we lost him this year.
