Bailey

Bailey is the perfect addition to our family. She is so mellow at all times. The only time we see her getting “emotional” is when a cat dares to enter her domain. She fits in with our family perfectly. She’s a senior, just like we are. At eight years old, she is 56 in dog years. We are in our sixties so that makes us all ready for bed at about the same time!

Mike is a disabled vet and he has a mobility scooter. Every day (except when it’s raining) he takes Bailey on a walk. And every single day, Bailey gets excited. You would think it was the first time she’d been on a walk. Bailey walks. Mike rides. She trots right along the side of the scooter on her leash. She never cuts in front of Mike or gets confused. She knows she belongs on his left side and she stays there.

The neighbors love seeing them out together. She has made quite a few friends in the last few months. She lets everyone pet her, regardless of age or size. She has met all of the other dogs in the neighborhood. A few of them bark at her but she just ignores them. She is on her walk and with her Daddy. That’s all that matters.

We started using an app on my iPhone on November 13th last year called Walk For A Dog. It allows us to track the miles walked, the time of the walk and shows the route taken and the average miles per hour. We are walking for Golden Retriever Rescue of Southern Nevada! As of January 31st, Mike and Bailey have walked 60 times for a total of 77.5 miles! They average 3.86 miles per hour and have spent 17 hours and 47 minutes on their walks! We love this app and love knowing that donations are made to the group.

Now, after walking all those miles, wouldn’t you think that Bailey was slim and trim? Alas, she seems to be solid muscle and doesn’t appear to have lost an ounce. Oh well, we know she’s happy and is in her Forever Home with us.
