Brodie
Dear friends at Golden Retriever Rescue:
We apologize for the delay in answering your letter of September 8 requesting a follow-up of our rescue golden, Brody. We have changed the spelling of his name from Brody to BRODIE.
As of this date, Brodie has settled in nicely. He is the perfect golden at home. We still have some issues with walking him on a leash, but we are addressing the issue by taking him to dog training classes at Petco. We are currently in the third session and have seen some improvement. We are confident that with time and patience this issue will be resolved.
We take him to the dog park every morning where he plays fetch non-stop. He usually ignores the other dogs in the park, but is by no means anti-social. He is good with meeting and greeting new people (adults and children.) Brodie is not too fond of the smaller breeds and we are working on the command “Leave-it” so he can pass by them without incident.
All in all he is a perfect golden and a perfect fit for us.
We do have questions that perhaps you can give us answers. Was he abused while on the leash? Was he left tied up in a yard? Was he trained to attack while on a leash. His only problems are while he is on the leash, otherwise, he has no issues with other dogs or people. PETCO has asked us these questions, so if you can give us any insight into his past it would be appreciated.
Sincerely,
Roseann and John
