Every Donation Matters…

It’s been a tough week.  I wanted to share with you what’s been going on.  In good news, we made what I hope are really good placements for the three that came in last week.  Such un-socialized, scared dogs, but they should be on their way to a normal happy life.
Also, this should make you smile… meet Scrunch!  A designer tea cup Golden?,  or maybe just a Golden Corgi or Spaniel mix?  What ever he is, he’s an angel. He’s all Golden, he’s just got 3 inch legs!  He was a stray that sought out a family and they called us wondering if we could place him. Of course we can!  Who wouldn’t love this conversation starter?!

Betty continues to break our hearts. The effects of the ‘sanctuary’ where she was imprisoned took such a toll on this girl.  Betty is anemic and we cant seem to figure out why.  She had more blood work today to see if she is getting any better.  We found out last week that she has some type of intestinal parasite which may be why she is not gaining any weight.  My gut feeling is that there is something very wrong, I hope that’s not the case. We are so desperate to help her, I hope they find out what’s going on soon.  On top of everything else, Betty is not the best houseguest.  She counter surfs and garbage picks amongst other things.  Easy to see why since this girl has probably had to forage for food for a good part of her life.  Luckily a kind man has offered to foster her since her current foster home  is unable to do it any longer. Talk about a panic.  Kathy begged and pleaded and finally got Betty a new place!!  Here’s little Betty Rubble….

Last week someone turned in their girl named Scarlet that had some type of ‘growth’ behind her eye.  The CT scan at the referral center just to see what it was ran $2500.00! The doctors said they were able to operate and remove the mass, which they did.  Poor beautiful girl has a shaved face and a scar but at least it’s out.  The news from the lab was not what we had hoped for.  It’s cancer, and now we’re waiting to see if the reports indicate whether or not we can do anything to help this amazing girl.  She is so sweet and gentle, we hope we can help her.  Even if we find out that there’s nothing we can do, we’re still doing something.  Scarlet is with a foster family that loves her like she’s one of their own and Scarlet had no idea she’s sick.  We’ll make sure she’s happy and loved and doesn’t suffer even for a second.  Please, keep a good thought for her.  Meet our beautiful Scarlet, who belongs to all of us.
Meet Bella, who looks like a Golden who maybe hasn’t gotten her feathers yet, but I think there was a little Yellow Lab in her past somewhere.  Bella just came into rescue last night. During a routine spay this morning there was a small problem which prompted the vet to run a few tests and Bella’s platelets count came back low.  It could be absolutely nothing, maybe she was even about to start her heat,  but there are a few things it could be that would not be great news.  We will find out the results of the tests hopefully tomorrow and I’ll keep you updated.  Please keep Bella in your thoughts as well.

Thank God for the generous people who made all of those donations during gift wrap, and to all of you who wrapped for those donations!  We’re so lucky that while we are all doing our fair share of worrying about the outcome of all of these tests, we dont have to worry financially that we cant give the dogs that come to us everything they need.
I’ll keep you all updated  on these, and all of our GRRSN pack.  Thanks so much for all you do!!!
