Three New Goldens-All in Need of Homes and Donations

Daisy

Owner surrender, reason… new baby is allergic. Free to good home Craig’s List ad find.

Daisy is 5 years, 9 months old… and blind. thank goodness she’s spayed.  Surrender owner (SO) got Daisy three years ago for people that were mistreating her. She didn’t elaborate except to say she got her in Henderson. At the time, SO didn’t realize Daisy was losing her vision or already blind, that she though Daisy walking into walls and doors was just something she did because she wasn’t paying attention.  Daisy may have little vision– I mean little like less than 1% she may be able to distinguish light from dark but objects per-se.  For example: a tree stump is dark so she will move around it. She’s been running into everything at my house but outside while visiting Deb she avoided a tree.  Her eyes do not dilate (see pictures). Her pupils are non reactive to light and stay huge, that is my observation, she hasn’t seen a doctor yet. I’ll get her the vet today, Thursday.
Besides being blind she’s obese, has a bald spot on her tail, and a couple sores on the back legs. The sores looks to be pressure sores from lying around too much. T4 test in 2012 was in normal range. She’ll be retested. And her teeth are disgusting.

Despite all that Daisy is a real sweetheart. She thrives on attention and loves being petted. Right Deb?! She snorts and snores!  My dogs barking upset her and she started to growl, got anxious and seemed confused. That’s understandable. Oh, she did have a Labrador as a companion she loved very much and used for guidance. SO got rid of that dog too.   She’s in my foster room for tonight and that’s okay by her: She fell sound asleep to the music of Soundscape on cable TV channel 934!

We’ll do all we can for Daisy to help her live a happy, comfortable life. Maybe her vision can be restored, even partially.

The past few dogs are truly rescues. That you all for helping make it possible to help these beautiful dogs.

Dorie

Owner surrender, reason: Landlord uh, slumlord goes back on word and tells tenant to get rid of dog. Dorie has been the family pet sine the age of 8 weeks. Young woman in her early twenty’s with 5 month old baby moves here from California, found an apartment she was told accepts dogs, so she signs a rental agreement moves in, and now slumlord says get rid of the dog or be evicted and lose deposit. If she moves out to keep the dog he’ll go after her for breaking lease. What an a-hole!

Dorie is 9 years old, not spayed, and has nasty bacterial infection in her ears. Vet prescribed medication for her ears, and she is on the spay schedule.

Doire is sweet, gentle senior gal. She’s somewhat timid but I’m sure that is mostly due to the fact she is confused and is missing the only family she’s ever known.  She especially loves children.  There was a bay in the home she doted over and stayed close to!  One thing you have to know about Dorie… she is fearful of men in ball caps.

Maxwell

Max comes to us from Mesquite shelter. AC confiscate: repeated violations of multiple dogs barking, neglect, and unhealthful living conditions.   He’s 1 year 2 months, not neutered and was born with a deformed right front leg. He doesn’t seem to be in any pain, and gets around quite well. Other than his crocked leg he seems in good health.  He’s lived outdoors his entire life.  Maxwell is a sweet, happy, goofy, typical young Golden boy.  He knows “sit” so there’s potential there!

We don’t know yet if there is hope to straighten out his leg.  He’s at the vet on the neuter schedule.
